I pulled up carpet in one room. The hardwood underneath is a mess. Highly doubt just cleaning will work but am dreading the thought of refinishing.

It had tons of paint on it besides just being a general mess. I’ve only done one pass with a mop so far with Pine Sol for general cleaning. Still can maybe give it a shot with getting on my hands and knees with some paint thinner or something. I have two other rooms to pull up the carpet in so assuming I’m going to have to rent a sander I will wait until I see those to do it all at once. Looking at videos the steps to refinish don’t look complicated but they look extremely tedious and somewhat tricky to do right.

A. floors are grunt work but not requiring significant skills B. look for signs that it had been done before because you only have less 1/4" - zeitgeist Jul 16, 19:55
