I got played by Amazon on Prime Day. I knew I was getting played but I was so impressed with the algorithm that I rolled with it.

I read a thing on Wirecutter about inexpensive kitchen gadgets they loved. They really liked the OXO Good Grips Cherry and Olive pitter. I like cherries and I would eat more of them if I didn't always end up spitting pits like I'm some sort of hillbilly.

So I put the pitter in my Amazon cart. The last couple purchases I left it in my cart instead of buying it.

So on Prime Day, all of a sudden I see on my front page a deal on a 3 1/2 can of whole Castelvano olives. It was a lucky guess on their part but I love the flavor of Castelvano olives.

But I knew what they were trying to get me to do and I did it. I bought both the deal on the can of olives and the pitter which wasn't on sale. I was just impressed that they matched up something with something I indicated I wanted so well.

They've come a long way from just being a place to get cheap books.
