The majority of my LA concert outings start well outside of LA either at the Irwindale station or rarely if leave directly from work, the Atlantic station in East LA and take the above ground portion of LA Metro system before transferring to the actual subway portion to get to the concert venue.

The Downtown LA and Hollywood trips detailed in the story are fantastic and super easy compared to the hassles of driving and especially parking.

I've never made it to Santa Monica yet but that's on the list of things to do.

There's also what seems to be thriving brewery scene in walking distance of the Chinatown station as well as Chinatown that I want to explore now that I'm familiar with the station due to of course the musical festival that I attended last summer that I walked to from that station

The newly expanded subway may not go everywhere, but for $5 a day it offers a gridlock-free way to get to plenty of great places. (www.nytimes.com)

i've used it to commute to work daily for 10 years. it's fine, other than being thoroughly unpoliced. the new connector is 2 blocks from my office - hollywood big shot Jul 19, 15:08 2
