They definitely have excursions and plans for travelers, it's just that those boats are used to deliver supplies up and down the coast year-round, which is the priority. but it also means we pull into a bunch of towns on the way for a short duration as they load and unload, so you have many many stops of short duration, in addition to the longer stays in the biggers ports.
