Thoughts and ep 3 thing (spoils)

I figured there had to be some kind of explanation. Otherwise it's just bad writing. And for everything else to be so good, I was really hoping the writers weren't that lazy.
But in Ep 3 when they shut off the generator I LOVED that the camera showed the real outside for a brief second.
Also, I figure there must be something in the suit's air tank that is killing the people. Or they are not actually dead. It was kind of hard to tell since the Sheriff collapsed even after taking the helmet off. I'm hoping they explain that too.
