Nothing new for automakers to take a best case scenario as the stated range/mpg rating.

And these are all approved by the EPA as within the acceptable range of estimates even if on the higher, more unlikely side.
The bigger issue here is most cars don't have an in-car way to track actual mpg and gas gauges aren't terribly accurate anyway.
This is people thinking environmental factors and driving styles shouldn't affect range as much as it does because they never notice that happening in ICE vehicles because there isn't a gauge for it.
Tesla takes the drive like a grandma in good weather estimate. Porsche went the other way with the Taycan and lowballed their estimates by nearly 50%.
Thew newest Tesla in car energy app gives a breakdown of what is consuming range so drivers can see where they can make improvements and what is an effect of environment.
