In response to "I feel a lot worse about Albies. I honestly wish we'd fix it. -- nm" by David

Albies is an underpay, but where he was at the time...it could have gone the other way within reason.

Acuna and Soto were guys in the orbit of Frank Robinson, Mel Ott, Trout, Harper and Mantle at those ages...short of them getting Conigliaro'ed in the head, 300mil+ was a guarantee.

His agent legit sold him out for 30 cents on that modest dollar when that was absolute floor pending upright health.

Albies Age-21 Comp on baseball reference was Roughned Odor, same at Age 22...it wasn't until Age 23 that he hit a star (Francisco Lindor) and at 24/25 he's not Travis Fryman... a very good player, but not a HOFer. At the time of signing, he was a OPS+ of 101 for his career...a good foundation, but nothing historic.

He's settled in as a 3 WAR player on average with a lot of variance year to year.

Acuna signed at 20 with an OPS+ of 140, and his Age 21 comp was Frank Robinson. Different class of player there.
