Spence hadn't shown any capacity to compete since the early moments of Round 2. He'd been knocked down 4 times. He'd never been knocked down ever in his entire career. This wasn't a fight anymore. It was a guy taking a compulsory beatin' outside the back of the liquor store. No reason to let this guy keep taking hits. Perhaps he wasn't a blubbering blob of pudding at the end, but he wasn't about to catch up to Bud either.
