The Afterparty S1: B. Talk To Me (2023): C+. Power outage: D

Afterparty should be funnier. It's just funny enough, but the mystery is solid and the varying stylistic presentations are gold. Extra super bonus points for the opening credits in the style of Saul Bass (with maybe a touch of Edward Gorey).
Talk To Me starts off well but falls off precipitously in the second half. The story is too thin to support any commentary the filmmakers are trying to relay. A very good lead actress but a generally forgettable movie otherwise. Compare to last year's Smile.
