One guy tries something stupid and 22 years later we're still taking off our shoes to fly? I'm also pretty sure that we're the only place that does this.
Also, why can't the xray machine see into your shoes? It can see through your bags with no issues.

Canada is changing this for people with any sort of Global Entry/Nexus. Shoes and belts on, liquids in carry-on, laptops in carry-on. Etc -- (edited)
