Y'all think that we're fancy enough to live in parts where those cliches apply? This is a chance for the LA River to shine

All goes to plan, it'll actually have water in it and it will work as the flood control project that it was built for as opposed to the 99% of the time it's a concrete 'river'
But since it is LA, stay away from low lying underpasses and don't try to drive across flowing or heck even standing water. Actually this is So-Cal, probably don't drive at all since we don't seem to change how we drive during the rare times it gets wet
Stay inside. Don't torture others by calling for delivery and force them out in the weather.
It is a super contrast to how things are in the anticipation of a storm here compared what I went through on Okinawa as the typhoons approached. Granted they're not forecasting wind so I guess there's not the need for rolling the storm shutters over the windows (what storm shutters?) but I remember at this point the house would be abnormally dark due to no light getting in do the storm shutters, the tub would be filled with water (to be used with purification tablets), batteries, flashlights, propane, camping stove, matches, candles, lantern, all located and made ready
I just remembered that if the storm was really forecast to be something, there'd be kind of the ominous sign when planes started to leave Kadena AFB in large numbers. That didn't happen for most storm warnings
