I think your understanding of the usage of craigslist is wrong........

my brother sold his washer and dryer and couch on CL before moving out of CL
I've used to search for apartments.
My parents used it to get boxes, for free, for their movie and then give away said boxes, for free, to people who were moving.
I'm aware there is an adult section, but I don't think that's a large part of the site (though I can't say I've investigated that portion).
I don't take it personally that you dislike CL, I just think your understanding of the site's main usage is flawed.
