like, I'm seeing a fair # of cases where he's 3rd-4th in WAR even if the leader in WAR didn't win the award.
Mays was Mays. He basically was Trout with WAR in that era. Aaron was putting up 8 WAR a year. Guys were putting up 9-11...
I think you could make the argument he could have won up to 3, but he also might have lost his only 1 (2nd in WAR to Willie).
You had guys like Willie, Bench, Koufax, Clemente, Stargell, (shit Fergie Jenkins had an 11.4 WAR year and finished like 9th)...that's a whole bunch of all-time talents.
