Because they are true, red-blooded patriots and the rest of us are anarcho-syndicalist Marxist agitators.

Or so they say.
Personally, I think it's because they are incapable of feeling shame, understanding hypocrisy, examining their own self-righteous hypocrisy, or questioning their own beliefs. Or even seeing a POV different than their own.
