I don't fundamentally understand Airbnb. Less amenities and more responsibilities (as opposed to none) than a hotel -- nm

We mostly use it with groups of 3 or more. It's usually less expensive overall, plus you have a shared space instead of meeting in the hotel lobby or

Neither hotel I stayed at in LA and NYC last weekend had self-serve laundry on site.

it was nice as a room in someone's house - good way to meet someone in the area, talk to, have a kitchen, etc. that was at the beginning

I think if you are traveling for extended periods they can make sense (a full kitchen is nice for a traveling family, right?)
