Gates was inside the home and provided ID with an address that PROVED he lived there BEFORE he was arrested. And the charges were dropped.

So, he was a dick and was arrested. But he was rightly pissed at the situation and wasn't polite. He still proved he lived in the house BEFORE he was arrested.
A GOOD police officer would apologize for making the situation more unpleasant.
