Yeah, I still find it weird that we have a 9/11 relic on display in our town. To my knowledge there’s no direct connection to anyone from here.

I’m pretty sure it would have been mentioned if there were. One of our fire companies had donated some old equipment to some other department, and in return received a piece of steel from the buildings from the organization that coordinated the donation, which was then used as the centerpiece of a memorial.
