LIR - Trevanian's book Shibumi is one of my very favorites. All of the philosophical stuff in it is what I like the most. -- (edited)

when someone ask Nicholai Hel why he only drank such a small amount of wine he answers (paraphrase) because two sips are no more delicious than one

I must have read the book 6 or 7 times when I was in my late 20's and early 30's - the paperback edition still sits on a shelf at home and I took it when traveling numerous times to read on the beaches all over the place.

the thing that's described in the book where he does into a dazed state and looks down as it floating above himself is something I vaguely remember happening to me when I was in 3rd grade and living in Wisconsin.

I could totally see Keanu in that role - but as happens with most books to film, I fear I would be disappointed in the translation in many ways.
