Semi-related: I ran a BBS for many years in college and after. I'm sure I've told the story here before. Was the regional Fidonet hub for a while -- (edited)

also so my phone line/BBS processed all the BBS messages that went between BBSes for most of the Midwest in the early 90s.
I even wrote a shareware BBS mail processing program that I'm pretty sure was the first Win32 type of it's kind since I was running my BBS on an early version of Windows NT back when most BBSes were running on DOS. There's still a dead link on Wikipedia to my software (Altair)
