I'm currently thinking that the problem is the West did not take Putin seriously as a true threat for years. Now it is a proven fact

and it is a balancing act between what can you give and what should you keep at home just in case the worst happens.
If NATO countries had keep their military spending actually up to the levels that they agreed to, then supplying Ukraine with what they really need wouldn't be a problem.
But now, everyone is scrambling to build more munitions factories and get the inventory flow rolling. Supplying the Ukrainians in 2025 won't be a problem, but it hurts right now.
