I think Dickie Glenroy is Loretta's son, and the book of Ben photos and stories is actually the closest she can get to following Dickie's life.

The doctor is the killer.

I see the Tobert speculation, and agree that it's entirely possible. It just feels too close to Jan to be the way they went.

Unless Tobert is actually Jan's secret son. But that seems unlikely.
