I'd start by using the same settings I use for Milky Way photos. Assuming you were on a stable surface for long exposure.

Ship deck may feel stable but isn't. Use your widest, fastest lens. Longer than 5 seconds and you'll get star trails (which you may not want). Adjust ISO as needed.
