It doesn't hurt that she was already an Olympic level runner in other disciplines. -- nm

I'm not sure it directly helped though either. Though heaven help the poor competitor who manages to be with her with 800 meters to go -- nm

I think it's helped greatly that she was already in great shape as a sprinter. She didn't get off her couch 18 months ago and start running
