I think it's helped greatly that she was already in great shape as a sprinter. She didn't get off her couch 18 months ago and start running

around her neighborhood only to become the record holder in the marathon.
I'm not trying to diminish her accomplishment which is very impressive. Just pointing out she was already an Olympic sprinter and not just some average woman with a normal job that took up running.
