two different things, a california stop is when you don't fully come to a stop, turning right when red is a gawd given right

but sadly its too easy to keep looking for a break in the cross flow and not notice the family starting to cross in front of you
this is much worse now with all those huge trucks with head height hoods where you can't see people right in front of you
