I sold my epic collection for pennies on the dollar with some prime key issues included. (To be fair, the collection was so big as to become quite a burden.) I was a completist and had many in-between issues that I accepted were just filler and didn’t have much value. Stuff like Transformers (or GI Joe, which I collected from issue #1 to the bitter end) I recognized as practically worthless. When a random Transformers issues is slabbed and valued at $50+, I question reality.
