Chris didn't make it to the finale!
Julia won!
Having finished I searched for what happened to the contestants and the for the last few: A+
Poh, the runner up, lots of professional success and apparently loves (loved) everybody personal life.
Best that I can sort out, at the finale, Poh's family shows up so there's the at the time husband. During the filming of the show, she and a PA having been making eyes at each other but can't talk cause PA could spill details about upcoming challenges and so on. At the wrap party, they exchange numbers. So Poh divorces her husband and hooks up with the PA. Let's go with that timeline though having typed it, yeah, that doesn't seem to be the most likely order of events.
However, don't feel bad for now ex-hubby as he goes on to marry Poh's best friend. Poh and her ex and her best friend remain really good friends.
PA marries Poh and her success continues to the point of openning her own restaurant that she runs in partnership with, wait for it, her Ex.
It's not completely happily ever after as I think PA guy and Poh got divorced but business wise, I think it's going well with Poh and her uh, first ex, successfully running two places.
Then there's the third runner up Chris who showed up on the show with the goal of opening a beer and food restaurant as he was a beer distributor, he's also one of the older contestants, older being relative as I think he was like 43 at the time of filming.
Apparently there was a whole tabloid thing shortly after season 1 as Chris and Julie (fifth place finisher) became a thing. Reasons it was tabloid thing: 1) Julia was 25 2) Chris was in a 4+ year long relationship when he left to do the show. Girlfriend was none to happy and seems to have been more than happy to give plenty of quotes reflecting that.
There is a happy ending on this one as best that I could find Chris and Julie are still married and collaborate on a variety of food related endeavors.
