i still believe he is in pretty steep mental decline and exhibits a lot of signs of someone who has dementia. it's rough - those folks are confused and often angry at the same time... we're watching the very late stages of it with Allie's grandfather. we knew something was wrong when he accused her dad of stealing $1M from him. he then went on to accuse everyone around him of some sort of slight or crime against him.

doesn't excuse Trump in the least, but it possibly explains bizarre behavior and his constant insistence that he's a victim.. he may really just not understand what's going on or has some vague understanding that is warped in his mind.
