It wouldn't need a lot. Just something to give the players some agency.

As structured, the first half of a show could be replaced by a coin flip. The players have no control, and one will advance.
They made a very tiny gesture with the Loca tiles in that the amount won varied based on the player's skill level, but even then whether or not they got to keep they money won was outside their control.
One or two tiles that let the player do something strategic -- block a card entry, swap a card entry, something -- would help a ton.
I wanted to like this more, but couldn't get past how weak the gameplay was.
