san mateo county is said to be “perched on California’s rugged northern cliffs” - that’s just weird. it has one side that is along the coast (think half moon bay), but the vast majority of its population is farther east, closer to the bay. we call it part of “the peninsula” - it actually makes up at least most of the land from above palo alto to the city of south san francisco.
of course, I have perspective, it’s just a personal peeve when a lack of care about a detail like that takes me out of reading something. it makes me wonder what else did the writer possibly get wrong?
