I meant using an SSD in an external case and I just want somewhere to backup my laptop and phone. Nothing crazy but lots of pics, videos and such. -- (edited)

I tried using the cloud but for the size I need it runs into a yearly cost I don't want to pay. I'd rather pay one time for an external option.
