Yesterday I attended an interesting sports match.

The referee signalled that there was to be 6 minutes of additional time to be played at the end of the match. This was subsequently announced on the tannoy system for all at the ground to hear.
With normal time having elapsed, one of the teams scored a goal. Then a fight broke out between 4 players and with only 1 minute of extra time having being played, the referee ended the game.
I was like wtf?
The person I attended the game with said the referee was right to end the game.
I said you can’t have a situation whereby players can by proxy through the referee arbitrarily end a game by instigating a fight. Lots of fights happen in games, and lots had happened in this game.
I felt the referee failed to act appropriately and he exceeded his authority not to play the additional time.
Am I right?
