something i just learned yesterday, essentially every building built in the last 30-40 years in Israel includes a bomb shelter in the basement. -- (edited)

houses, apartment buildings, schools, all public buildings, all of them.
a concrete room with a steel door, it's just part of basic construction. it's actually a law.
i knew that there were lots, just didn't know it was mandated.
