But labor costs cover, uh, well labor and to some extent a percentage of overhead but in that case like keeping the lights on

So a major part of what I do is quotes on custom projects
So we've got costs for materials / parts and I apply a markup to those.
We've got established numbers for our cost for various types of labor, assembly, engineer/design, project management, test and so on
So we're charging a markup (granted not as high as spare parts markup) on parts in addition to the labor rates we're charging.
