Is the basket where the ice dumps into empty? Or overfull? Oddly I have experienced having my icemaker seemingly broken, bought some ice because we needed it and then it started making ice again. It's happened a couple of times. I had somebody tell me that it needs ice in there to make ice (conversely if it's overfull it will stop as well). I can't give you any reason for needing ice in it, but it worked for me.
