I spent almost two hours across the street from my Mexico City hotel last night but unable to get to the hotel. And it's James Bond's fault.

(the movie series character, not the ST poster).
Apparently the opening scene of the 2015 Bond film 'Spectre' involves Bond chasing a villain through the massive Day of the Dead Parade in Mexico City. This resulted in a high level of interest to attend this amazing parade, including some people who turned up in 2016 for the parade because of the movie.
Except the parade was a fictional invention of the Bond film. No such parade existed in Mexico City. (To be sure, Day of Dead Parades existed in Mexico, with the most well known being in Oaxaca I believe).
Well, Mexico City wisely saw a tourism opportunity and so they started a Day of the Dead Parade in 2017. A parade that has become massive, with millions of people attending each year. (they even use some of the costumes and props from the movie).
I was on the wrong side of the street of the parade, alas, so couldn't get back to my hotel.
