The opposite almost happened to us in New Orleans -- (edited)

Unbeknownst to us when we had booked the trip, we were leaving on the second day of Mardi Gras, and our hotel was “inside the hook” of one of the major parade routes, so if we didn’t leave for the airport when we had we would essentially have been stuck.
Also the flight was on Frontier and ended up delayed five hours.
