I suppose there's an argument to be made; however, I don't see it as the same kind of sequel.

It's more of a legacy sequel, like "we can be heroes" is a sequel to "the adventures of shark girl and lava boy in 3-D"

(that said, I haven't seen it, so I'm not entirely sure if this is accurate. Maybe it is a direct sequel?)
