Habitat for Humanity sent out a lovely email.

"November 20, 2023

Dear David,

We join our country and the world in mourning the passing of former first lady Rosalynn Carter — co‑founder of The Carter Center and a leading advocate for mental health, human rights and conflict resolution. At Habitat for Humanity, our hearts are especially heavy, as we have lost a dear friend and passionate supporter. As we reflect on her life, we are filled with tremendous gratitude for all that she did to care for others and for her dedication as the partner of our country’s 39th president.

For nearly 40 years, President and Mrs. Carter have been known by many as Habitat’s most famous volunteers as they helped build homes alongside families around the world. Mrs. Carter’s compassionate spirit will live on through the lives of those she has touched in many ways.

In the coming days, we hope you will add a message to our our online memory book. We hope you will join us and others around the globe in celebrating her many contributions.

Mrs. Carter told us she was more than a little reluctant to join her husband on their first Habitat build in New York City in 1984, but that quickly changed as she worked alongside the families who would soon live in the homes she and her husband helped build. She often spoke of her love of working with those who were building a better future.

We always get so much more than we give when we build with Habitat families. It has been such a blessing for me and for Jimmy to be a small part of the work of this wonderful organization."
