Oh, and skip the American looking dishes if not knowing how it was made is an issue. My lesson learned from having to push away spaghetti as the red sauce was ketchup 🤷🏻♂️ Thats kind of on us (US) as Japan learned of that during the occupation and took to it.
You could eat French pastries without fear if that's your thing as that's one food culture that the Japanese didn't adapt but just love as is and there's still generations of Japanese pastry chefs that do decades in France before coming back to Japan to practice their craft
