I get that he's had a huge year, but I just don't get people headlining in essentially their first year (or 2) of being on people's radar.

To me you should have somewhat of a catalogue of music to headline a festival.
Responses:
Prioritize new and currently hot. Plus it's over Arcade Fire. A catalog is nice but all one really needs for a festival is 'one' set -- nm
