Can't you keep a cow at some stable out in the country like folks keep horses?

And as a bit of trivia, cows can walk upstairs -- but not downstairs -- due to the ways their knees bend.

But on a more serious note, if you wanted to try making French butter (i.e., culture butter) at home, it's not terribly difficult. Takes some time, patience, and care, but it's a relatively straightforward process. I used the NYT recipe a few times during COVID and it worked out well. Or "well enough" I suppose.

If you can find someone selling raw milk, it's even better.
