Presumably this makes the app rates so untenable that people stop using them and the companies collapse.

These disrupters were building a business off low wage workers. They hid the true cost by forcing the gig workers to shoulder the burden. If we can make this work at a fair price, I'm all for it. But I don't think consumers will pay that fair price.
