I'd be hard pressed challenging that assertion. There's maybe a couple of years in the 80s that might qualify.

There are establishment years in the 80s, with games like Zork or Wizardry or Ultima or Donkey Kong or Pitfall or Qbert or Joust, but 2023 may be the ultimate culmination of all the things that came before.
