This somehow counts as an “unexpected rise” as “underlying inflation pushed higher.”

I am debating if worthwhile to buy more I bonds in January or put that money into kids 529 instead.

For longer term savings I would consider more aggressive options than I bonds, and the 529 will also potentially provide additional tax benefits -- (edited)
