And both the Russians and the West are hoping the other suffers fatigue economically first, to make them withdraw from the arena.
Russian defence budget is approx 120 billion a year.
So either NATO needs to get serious and spend 500 billion a year on arms for Ukraine, or give Russia an ultimatum that they’ll put boots on the ground. Putin can’t believe his luck that he can sabre rattle his nuclear arsenal, and all the Western nuclear powers run scared.
