The funny thing is I think they got the idea for this in season tournament from the NBA2k league that my daughter used to work on. They've done it

there for a few years where there are in season tournaments with cash prizes for the players. But for this NBA in season tournament the numbers for payouts are so low relative to salaries it seems like a pointless concept.
