sure eventually, but he's banking on being able to outlast the west. depending on the US election next year he might be right.

without NATO support Ukraine loses. and even with the war in its current form Ukraine's troops run out before Russia's.
best case I think sanctions maybe start biting in 2025. even then Putin's cabal is still making money, and he has enough power and control that nobody can move against him. he's managed to reframe the war as overarching conflict with the west, he's picking up support in the global south, and most Russians are still very much on board. he's not in bad shape at all.
