I think this hinges on whether or not it was the George Michael version.

If it was, I would say you’re out.

The intentional ruining exemption, as I understand it, may only be sought for in cases where the perpetrator is known to you, and is acting maliciously towards you, alone. This Morning show segment, while malicious, is an indiscriminate act of Whamageddon terrorism, and you would have been slain has they used the original song. That’s my take anyway.
