In response to "Gee, a fight between Gail Simone and Mark Millar…who to pick? Who to pick." by David

Gail posted this by David Macho. It’s something all STers should read and think about as we advance in age.

“I understand some people may have the urge to return to the 90s, or 00s, when they were relevant. I understand people who felt idolized and don't feel it anymore may miss that. Life teaches you to change, adapt, keep learning... or you just become the proverbial "old man barking at the moon".
No, things aren't as they used to be, AND THEY SHOULDN'T BE. Nostalgia is fine, but it shouldn't be the beginning and end. New voices join our artform and the art they create is based on their own personal experiences, and that's what creation is, always has been.
Being confrontational to anything that's new, different to what some think are "good comics" is not just unhealthy, it's wanting to see comic-books die. If we don't adapt to the readership, to their new tastes, influences and wants, we'd just be waiting for the guillotine to fall.
There is a place for the readers who want to read comics as they were done 30 years ago, but there's a much bigger segment of the population who wants to be surprised, astonished by something new. Keep doing things your own way, but don't diminish, don't insult, the new voices.
And if you feel like you should insult and call creators or books "woke" (if you even know what word means, and no, it doesn't mean what you think it means) then don't be surprised at the clapback. "Cancel pig" isn't helpful, either. The use of those terms actually defines you, a lot more than it defines the people you're trying to offend/denigrate.
Understand, this is all written from a place of love: to the artform, the publishers, and especially to the creators. We have enough extremes in politics. Let's not make the same mistakes, guys.”
